Choose one or both training weeks and experience approximately 200 nautical miles per week through practical sailing, real decision-making and hands-on ISSA Inshore Sailing Training.
This is more than a sailing trip. It’s an opportunity to build confidence, improve your seamanship and develop the judgment every skipper needs when conditions change.
Whether you’ve recently earned your sailing certificate or you’re looking to expand your real offshore experience, the XVI Educational Flotilla offers an immersive learning environment where every mile becomes part of your training.

Most sailing trips are about reaching beautiful destinations.
The XVI Educational Flotilla is about becoming a better skipper before you reach them.
Designed for sailors who want more than just nautical miles, this program combines real offshore passages, daily practical exercises and structured ISSA Inshore Sailing Training in an environment where learning happens naturally—through experience, teamwork and decision-making.
Every day presents new opportunities to develop the skills that matter most: passage planning, weather interpretation, pilotage, sail trim, boat handling, crew communication and leadership. Rather than repeating familiar routines, you’ll be challenged to think ahead, adapt to changing conditions and make informed decisions under the guidance of experienced instructors.
This is not a race, nor a holiday cruise.
It is a hands-on training experience where every manoeuvre, every watch and every briefing contributes to your growth as a skipper.
Whether you choose one training week or both, you’ll return with far more than approximately 200 nautical miles in your logbook. You’ll leave with greater confidence, stronger seamanship and a deeper understanding of what it truly means to command a yacht responsibly.
Because at sea, experience isn’t measured by the distance you’ve sailed.
It’s measured by the quality of the decisions you’ve made along the way.
The XVI Educational Flotilla is one of the flagship training events organized by UCaptain, bringing together sailors from different backgrounds with a common goal: to gain meaningful offshore experience through structured, hands-on sailing.
The program takes place over two independent training weeks during October 2026. Each week offers approximately 200 nautical miles of sailing and can be attended separately or combined for those who wish to extend their experience.
Rather than following a fixed classroom routine, learning takes place where it matters most—at sea.
Each passage becomes an opportunity to practice navigation, pilotage, weather assessment, sail handling, boat management and crew coordination under real cruising conditions. Every departure, every arrival and every decision contributes to developing the confidence and judgment expected from a capable skipper.
As part of the flotilla, participants sail in individual training crews, each guided by an experienced instructor. If you choose to join Antonis Meis‘ training crew, you’ll experience A SeaYou Training Experience—a coaching approach built around active participation, critical thinking and practical decision-making, rather than passive observation.
The objective is not simply to complete another sailing trip or collect nautical miles.
The objective is to transform every mile into knowledge, every challenge into experience and every day at sea into a step towards becoming a more competent, confident and responsible skipper.
